Um avião de passageiros da Turkish Airlines com 134 pessoas a bordo caiu próximo ao aeroporto internacional de Schiphol, a cerca de 20 km do centro de Amsterdã, nesta quarta-feira (25), deixando ao menos 20 feridos.

As autoridades do aeroporto disseram que uma pessoa morreu no acidente, mas a informação foi desmentida pelo ministro turco de Transportes, Binali Yildirim, e pela empresa.
Candan Karlitekin, chairman da empresa, disse que havia 127 passageiros -inclusive um bebê de colo- e sete tripulantes a bordo. Inicialmente, o aeroporto havia informado que 135 pessoas estavam na aeronave.
Segundo Karlitekin, os passageiros que ficaram feridos estavam na parte traseira da aeronave.
O acidente ocorreu durante uma tentativa de pouso, próximo ao aeroporto. O avião, um Boeing 737-800, voo TK 1951, vinha da cidade turca de Istambul e partiu-se em três partes.
Bombeiros e cerca de 30 ambulâncias estão no local para prestar socorro às vítimas. Cerca de 50 passageiros deixaram andando a aeronave logo depois da queda, com a ajuda das equipes de resgate.
O tráfego aéreo foi paralisado no aeroporto por conta do acidente.

Turkish Airlines B738 at Amsterdam on Feb 25th 2009, landed on a field
A Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration TC-JGE performing flight TK-1951 from Istanbul (Turkey) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with 135 passengers and 7 crew on board, performed a controlled landing on a field outside Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport while approaching runway 18R and broke up in three parts. No fire erupted. There are reports of injuries. Authorities report, that all occupants survived. The Dutch TV reports 4-5 fatalities based on survivor accounts, but clarified later that these were 4-5 body bags seens by survivors.
Surviving passengers reported, that the airplane jolted seriously and then impacted ground.
An off duty pilot on the ground watching the accident said, that the airplane performed a controlled landing following loss of thrust on both engines.
