Embraer To Bring EMB 145 AEW&C Aircraft To LIMA 2005 -Bernama - 30/11/2005

Embraer, a Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, will bring an EMB 145 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C)
aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force to the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) 2005
exhibition scheduled from Dec 6 to 11.
The aircraft, which can give the operators the "eye in the sky" surveillance, will be displayed for the first
time in a Southeast Asian international air show.
"We're very proud and excited to bring the aircraft to this important event, allowing customers from the
Southeast Asian region to visit the aircraft and meet directly with the Brazilian Air Force crew," said
Romualdo Barros, Embraer's Executive Vice-President For the Defence Market, in a statement released, here
Wednesday.
The aircraft will be on display at the Langkawi Air Show after demonstrations for the Royal Malaysian Air
Force (RMAF) for more than a week at the Subang Air Base near here.
This will not be the first time that officers of the RMAF have had the opportunity to evaluate the EMB 145
AEW&C, the statement said.
Last year, a detailed and in-depth evaluation was conducted in Brazil when RMAF officers tested and checked
all functions and performance of the system.
"The mission today is dedicated to the LIMA exhibition and to show to the senior authorities in Malaysia," it
said.
The Brazilian Air Force EMB 145 AEW&C (designated R-99A) has flown from its Brazilian home base in Annapolis,
state of Goias, about 11,500 nautical miles, which were covered in about 31.5 flight hours, with 100 per cent
dispatchability and no support aircraft required.
Before LIMA, the aircraft had been taken to the Dubai Air Show in the United Arab Emirates.
The EMB 145 AEW&C aircraft features a unique high-performance multimode active phased-array Doppler radar
mission system, including onboard command and control and an advanced data-link suite.
Besides the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems, EMBRAER will also be promoting during
the LIMA 2005 its Super Tucano trainer and light attack aircraft, an evolution from the Tucano.
Currently, 650 Tucano aircraft operate with about 17 air forces worldwide, including those of Brazil, Britain,
France, Egypt and Kuwait.
