TEERÃ (Reuters) - Um avião iraniano com 157 passageiros a bordo caiu um pouco depois de decolar e pegou fogo no principal aeroporto de Teerã, na noite de quarta-feira, (horário local) deixando várias pessoas feridas e uma criança morta, segundo a agência de notícias estatal e autoridades.
A agência IRNA informou que uma criança morreu e citou testemunhas que presenciaram o acidente.
Mais cedo, a emissora de TV Al Arabiya citou a televisão estatal iraniana informando que 50 pessoas haviam morrido em um acidente aéreo no aeroporto internacional de Mehrabad, em Teerã.
Pouco depois houve fumaça e chamas saindo do Boeing 707 que vinha da ilha de Kish, no Golfo Pérsico, segundo a emissora estatal iraniana.
"Por razões desconhecidas ele caiu no rio logo depois da pista de decolagem", disse Reza Jafarzadeh à emissora.
"Até agora não há informações de vítimas fatais e somente uma criança está desaparecida", acrescentou ele.
De acordo com a IRNA, a criança que morreu saltou do avião para o rio. A agência informou que muitos passageiros quebraram mãos e braços ao pularem dos escombros do avião já que as portas de emergência falharam.

SAHA plane's landing accident in Tehran claims infant's life RECAST: To add more details
Tehran, April 21, IRNA
SAHA passenger plane's Kish-Tehran flight had a bad landing at 11:15 Wednesday night, local Tehran time, in Mehrabad Airport, in which an infant lost his life and a larger number of passengers got injured.
According to IRNA correspondent at the international airport, the incident occurred due to blowing off of one of the Boeing 707's tires while landing.
SAHA managing director told IRIB Channel 1 midnight news that the plane, with 157 passengers, had "due to a still unknown reason" fallen into a ditch in Kan River while touching down and one of the passengers' infants fell into the river while the passengers were being evacuated through one of the plane's emergency exits.
According to eye witnesses at the scene of the incidence, the plain's tail caught fire due to fraction with the runway after its front tire blew off while landing.
It is also said that the 707 had detoured from the runway and was being dragged toward Kan River, where its turbulent movement due to its bad landing finally halted.
The child, who got killed in the incident actually fell into the river while the emergency evacuation process was carried.
The initial report based on eye witnesses also reiterates that the emergency facilities of the plane including the air cushion slides for emergency exit none functioned properly and that was why the horrified passengers had to jump out relying on their own skills, which led to many of them breaking their limbs.
It is also said that the plane's attendants left the plane before the passengers.
most of the injured passengers were transferred to hospitals in ambulances by the time this news item was being dispatched.
Some foreign news agencies have also quoted eyewitnesses as having seen the right engine of the plane catching fire while landing.
meanwhile some of the passengers complain that the plane's take off in Kish, too was quite a harsh one, with more turbulence than a normal take off.
