TUI ADQUIRE TRANSPORTADORA AÉREA CHARTER HOLANDESA
19 ABR 2005 - O operador turístico alemão TUI, através da sua filial holandesa, adquiriu a transportadora aérea Holland Exel, que em Fevereiro passado apresentou uma suspensão de pagamentos.
Segundo o director da TUI Holanda, Steven van der Heijden, a empresa pagou menos d dez milhões de euros pela Holland Exel, estando incluindo nesse montante um empréstimo de três milhões de euros à Holland Exel, que se encontra em sérias dificuldades financeiras.
Com a compara da companhia, fica sob decisão a TUI poder vir a adquir quatro aviões da empresa holandesa, que pertencem a duas firmas distintas, com as quais está já a negociar.
A Holland Exel é a única transportadora holandesa independente de voos charter.

kleineboy writes "Former Charter airliner Holland Exel has a new owner: TUI AG, the largest tour operator in Europe. It will start flying under the name ArkeFly. Arke is one of the brandnames of TUI in the Netherlands.
The initial fleet will consist of 4 Boeing 767s from Holland Exel.
Initial destinations are Turkey, Greece, Tenerife, Egypt, Gambia, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, Brazil, Sri Lanka and Curacao.
Thus, TUI starts competing head to head with Air France-KLM, which still has a dominant position on the Dutch market for holiday flights. TUI expects ArkeFly to carry 400,000 passengers per year.
