" Chaos at FAJS

Another absolutely ridiculous day out of F.U. Tamboet Irrational Airport.
Change of runway during a VMC day causes start delays initially given as "call back in 45 minutes". And then the fun really started. We finally had a start 1H10 after filed departure time. Clearance delivery and ground frequencies were utter chaos, with guys calling for start and being given a continuous chant of "number plenty in start sequence, call me again in 10 minutes". Seems everybody was being screwed around, from Spoories and Emirates all the way down to private flights all recieving the same response.
Departure control was also up to its usual efficiency. I have never failed to be amazed at how poorly traffic is scheduled out of FAJS. Seems to be a mndatory stop-watch traffic take-off separation. I thought JHB was a positive radar environment, with the IFR traffic able to be vectored out of each other's way by our benevolent big brothers watching all on their TV screens? This procedural-style departure control is horrendously inefficient and only causes unnecessary departure delays as everyone queues up waiting for their timed departures.
So, after we finally managed to shake the dirt from our heels, we returned 3 hours later. And lo-and-behold the ground-bound chaos was still in full swing. Still heard the "number 13 for start" while we taxiied in with others fuming on the radio over delays.
Jeez, it's a total cluster on a visual day. Does anyone think that this disaster of an airport will be able to cope with 2010?

Heard on GND the other day:

Springbok xxx:"GND, what is the reason for the start delay?"

GND:"Excessive demand"

Some other pilot:"Inadequate supply!"

Says it all really.

Lembro, no ano passado, que o ACC Curitiba estava com problemas de comunicação e alguns tráfegos eram instruidos a chamar em HF: 8855 kHz ou 10096 kHz!!!

Já pensaram a seguinte fraseologia em 8855 kHz :

- Centro Curitiba ..Controle Palegre ..em 8855 Khz!! segue um (qãããã) este "qããã" é o ruído de formações de CB´s próximos a estação de HF!!!

- Prossiga?

- Copia trafego GOL 1802 de Porto Alegre para São Paulo via UW 25 estimando OSAMO 20:45z FL360..break..break..TAM 3452 de Porto Alegre para Curitiba ..FL320 ..copiado?

- Afirmativo Palegre (e o ACC repete todas as informações dadas pelo APP) sua transmissão está ficando baixa faça um teste em....qãããããããããã...

- Confirme Curitiba muita interferência por aqui..

- 100qãaãããã...

-Confirme 10096 kHz?

- Afirrrrrmativo (o controlador grita)

- Palegre ciente trocar para 10096 kHz

-GOL 1802 confirme o seu selcal para Curitiba?

-Selcal HK-LQ !!!

-Ciente chame atingindo FL 360 qual seu estimado para OSAMO?.....

E assim é o HF não dúvido de nada nos dias de hoje...tudo é possível!!
