Navegacao Aerea Brasileira, N.A.B., was established in 1939 and began operations in 1941 over a coastal route linking Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza. In 1948, when the route mileage had reached nearly 5,000, financial difficulties caused the suspension of operations. The company began work again in 1951 and at present NAB serves a coastal route from Rio to Vitoria, and an inland route to Belo Horizonte. Head Office: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Executives: Dr. M. Panair do Brasil, S.A. In October 1929 the Brazilian Government authorized New York, Rio and Buenos Aires Line Inc. (NYRBA) to operate services in Brazil, and Nyrba do Brasil was created as a Brazilian subsidiary. A service was begun between Rio de Janeiro and Belem. In August 1930 Pan American Airways took over both NYRBA and Nyrba do Brasil and the latter became Panair do Brasil on September 15 that year. PAB developed services with Sikorsky S-38 and Consolidated Commodore flying-boats. These were later replaced by Fairchild 91s and Sikorsky S-43s and, although Panair now operates an extensive Brazilian and South American route network with DC-3s and Constellations, Catalinas still operate the Amazon routes. In 1942 the company was reorganized, cleared of German control and given its present name. The company now operates more than 18,000 miles of routes in Brazil and between Brazil and neighbouring countries. Head Office: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Executives: Dr. J. B. R. Dantas, president; J. Q. V. de Carvalho, commercial director; Col. F. A. Roche, operations director. Fleet: 34 DC-3, four Convair 340, four Beech AT-11.

Há um equívoco, pois o Beechcraft 99 que voou na Vasp era o PP-SRW, somente em julho/1968. No mês seguinte foi para a Varig, como PP-VDY. Eram testes. O equívoco é em relação à matéria da revista, que considerou a existência de um Beechcraft na frota Vasp em 1958. Como vimos foi em 1968.
Outro fato interessante é que os prefixos PP-SRV (DHC-6) e o PP-SRW (Beech 99) foram também utilizados em dois B737-200 no início dos 90. No Airliners tem as fotos, com pintura diferenciada.

A VASP repetiu alguns prefixos ao longo de sua existência, inclusive MD11 ostentou prefixo que foi de JU52 (SPD, SPE), 737-200 usou prefixo de Monospar, Dragon Rapide e Ju (SPA, SPB, SPC, SPF, SPG, SPH, SPI)... bem como 737-300 usou prefixo de 737-200 (SNW, SNY) entre outros.Maurício escreveu:O equívoco é em relação à matéria da revista, que considerou a existência de um Beechcraft na frota Vasp em 1958.
