TAP M&E Offloads Brazil Facility to Flightparts

Chinese component specialist has rebranded the business as Flightparts Brazil.

China-based Flightparts Component Services has completed the acquisition of TAP Maintenance & Engineering’s (TAP M&E) component business based in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

According to Flightparts, headquartered in Xiamen, the move expands and complements its MRO capabilities particularly for its landing gear line.

The Porto Alegre location is primarily used for MRO of aircraft landing gears for regional narrow and widebody aircraft, along with Pratt & Whitney engines, Honeywell APUs, avionics, and other accessories.

The company is now operating under Flightparts Brazil.

Speculation suggested the Portuguese MRO had been looking to sell the facility since last year. TAP ceased operations in Brazil on January 31, with Flightparts taking over operations from early February.

A spokesperson for Flightparts told Aviation Week that several of the staff at the site will be retained. The Chinese company plans to invest heavily in modernizing the facility and upgrade the capabilities while operating under new leadership.

Esse Paulo Sergio foi a Portugal e deu entrevista na imprensa deles dizendo que o governo portugues mandava dinheiro do contribuinte para manter a TAPME Brasil....Muito estranho esse discurso dele agora alem do que ele é filiado ao PSOL e candidato a prefeito de Canoas...Pessoa se moral para cobrar nada....Desculpe o desabafo.

Consta que em 12/10, o B737-500 da Sideral PR-SHE foi transladado do pátio 1 do SBPA para o Hangar 4, sendo a primeira aeronave a entrar em manutenção na Drayton Aerospace POA, desde o fechamento do CEMAN TAP M&E.
