Royal Jordanian considering 90-seat regional types - Air Transport
Intelligence news, David Kaminski-Morrow
Royal Jordanian Airlines has revealed that its intended regional jet
order will be for up to 16 aircraft in the 90-plus seat range.
The airline expects that half of these aircraft will constitute a firm
order, with options covering the remainder.
While the Embraer 190/195 has been tipped as the leading candidate, the
airline has not ruled out the Bombardier CRJ900 and even the Airbus A318.
Speaking to ATI at the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) conference
in Sana'a, Royal Jordanian vice-president of network planning Geoffrey
Weston said the carrier still plans to finalise the order by the end of
this year.
The aircraft will be configured with two classes with around 10% of the
seats in the business cabin.
Royal Jordanian, which has newly committed to joining the Oneworld
alliance, is embarking on a strategy of strengthening its network through
frequent regional connections from Amman.
